Data Analyst

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Data Analyst to contribute to a fast-paced Discovery and Alpha phase of an essential government initiative. This position demands a collaborative problem solver with strong stakeholder engagement abilities to extract critical insights and transform complex datasets into clear, actionable deliverables focused on outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed mapping of current data environments, pinpoint data gaps, and assess data quality across both legacy and new systems.
• Engage with stakeholders through workshops, challenge existing assumptions, and translate intricate data concepts into understandable business narratives suitable for senior non-technical leadership.
• Develop and define meaningful key performance indicators and baseline metrics to evaluate success as the project moves towards the Beta stage.
• Perform analytics driven by outcomes, model data scenarios to validate hypotheses and provide evidence-based insights supporting user research and policy teams.
• Produce data recommendations and related materials in alignment with Government Digital Service (GDS) Service Standards.

Candidate Profile

• Must hold Basic BPSS security clearance.
• Previous experience working in Discovery and Alpha phases within central or local government environments is essential.
• Proven capability in stakeholder management, including excellent communication skills and comfort presenting to senior sponsors while managing conflicting requirements.
• Expertise in data visualisation and storytelling to convert raw data into clear, intuitive dashboards, journey mappings, and structured option frameworks.
• Proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with data analysis tools such as Power BI, Tableau, R, or Python.

• Rate: £400 per day
• Contract duration: 6 to 8 weeks
• Location: Fully remote
• Security clearance: Basic BPSS required
