About Zero Carbon Systems

Zero Carbon Systems (ZCS) is a pioneering company focused on clean energy and direct air capture, aiming to facilitate the global shift toward a zero-carbon future. Our innovative technology seeks to significantly reduce atmospheric CO2, tackling one of the most urgent environmental issues facing the planet. Backed by mission-driven investors and led by a passionate team of innovators, ZCS combines cutting-edge scientific research with practical real-world solutions. We value diversity, collaboration, and commitment to excellence, welcoming individuals who want their work to make a meaningful impact.

Role Overview

As a Data Analyst at ZCS, you will be part of a rapidly growing and dynamic team dedicated to combating climate change. Collaborating tightly with the Lead Data Analyst, you will collect, organize, and analyze data generated from laboratory and pilot plant experiments. Your insights will be integral to guiding technology design improvements and scaling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside senior scientists and engineers to segregate data from individual experiments obtained from analytical lab equipment, test rigs, and pilot plants, ensuring data accuracy and completeness both for one-off and continuous time-series data.
  • Organize and archive experiment data efficiently for easy future access and analysis.
  • Conduct thorough data cleaning and statistical analysis, detecting trends, patterns, and irregularities using statistical tools like JMP.
  • Create compelling, clear visual representations of data outcomes for a technically diverse audience.
  • Communicate findings concisely to technical leadership, offering data-driven recommendations to enhance processes.
  • Support the design and execution of experiments aimed at creating comprehensive datasets while optimizing resource use.
  • Collaborate with analytical and operations teams to validate equipment by statistically reviewing outcomes, identifying bias, sources of variability, and ensuring reproducibility.
  • Contribute to quality assurance and control efforts by establishing systems for consistent and reliable performance.
  • Assist teams in extracting actionable insights from structured data including repeated batch experiments and spectral analytical data.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Data Science, or a closely related discipline coupled with practical analytical experience.
  • Proven abilities in managing and interpreting large, complex datasets.
  • Competence with data analysis software such as JMP or Minitab.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills capable of conveying technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and dedication to accurate documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in laboratory or research and development environments operating analytical instruments or automated testing setups.
  • Prior exposure to fast-paced startup settings.
  • Familiarity with AVEVA PI System for data acquisition and management.
  • Experience automating routine data management tasks.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as R or Python for data analysis.
