Cutter Operator

Overview

Mittera is seeking skilled Cutter Operators to join our Finishing team located in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining Polar 115 or 137 cutting machines to precisely cut paper and custom printed products for premium clientele.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze job ticket details to understand exact cutting requirements and sequence within production.
• Accurately measure to establish incremental cutting positions relative to gripper and guide.
• Input cutting parameters into the machine’s computer system in the correct sequence.
• Inspect cut materials rigorously for defects; make necessary adjustments to programming and clamp pressure to ensure quality.
• Unload and stack finished or pre-finished materials on pallets following job specifications for shipment or subsequent processes.
• Document job data on load tags, timesheets, and data collection systems as required.
• Replace blades and apply lubrication to machinery as per manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of productivity and quality in all tasks.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent credential.
• Competency in basic math operations.
• Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions in English, including job documentation, press imposition layouts, and ruled-up sheets.
• Mechanical aptitude is essential.
• Familiarity with basic electronics and keyboarding skills.
• Physical capability to stand and walk almost continuously (95% of the work time); safety shoes will be provided partially by the company.
• Ability to lift and handle large 40-inch press sheets and engage in frequent bending.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with back braces supplied upon request.
• Experience working in noisy manufacturing settings; hearing protection is supplied.
• Leadership skills to guide crew members and QC helpers during operations.
• Persistent focus on enhancing workflow efficiency and personal skills.
• Maintain a professional, positive, respectful demeanor with all colleagues.
• Being bilingual is an advantage.
