Role Overview

Way2Class is looking for a meticulous Copy Editor who can work on academic manuscripts, books, and journal articles. The role calls for someone with a strong grasp of AMA, APA, and Elsevier style rules, excellent language accuracy, and the ability to turn around polished, publication-ready copy within demanding timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Edit academic manuscripts, books, journal articles, and similar scholarly material at an advanced level.
Improve clarity, consistency, and scientific correctness while aligning content with client-specific style requirements.
Carry out quality checks and prepare content for final publication.
Apply AMA, APA, and Elsevier formatting and editorial conventions accurately.
Coordinate with project managers and editorial teams to meet delivery schedules.
Handle editorial questions and communicate clearly with relevant stakeholders.
For senior copyeditor profiles, coach junior editors, offer constructive feedback, and help maintain quality across projects.
Maintain strong standards for grammar, syntax, punctuation, and formatting.

Experience Profiles

Senior Copyeditor: Candidates should have 5–8 years of experience in academic or scientific copyediting, including books, journals, and scholarly manuscripts for established publishers. This profile requires advanced knowledge of AMA, APA, and Elsevier guidelines, along with leadership, mentoring, and quality control ability.

Copy Editor: Candidates should have 3–5 years of experience in academic, scientific, or technical publishing. A solid understanding of editorial standards and style guides is needed, along with hands-on experience editing academic manuscripts, books, and journal articles. Strong English and formatting skills are essential.
