Overview

Vertiv seeks a driven Contract Management Specialist to join its Commercial Department based in Singapore. This role involves hands-on management of Change Orders for ongoing projects, along with handling customer disputes and claims. The position supports Project Managers with daily contractual and commercial guidance throughout project execution, primarily within Electrical and Mechanical construction domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify early change events, scope variations, and deviations across assigned projects.
  • Assist in preparing and supporting Change Order submissions with detailed commercial and quantitative backing.
  • Ensure timely notification of all change events to protect contractual entitlements.
  • Keep accurate Change Order logs and provide updates to project teams and leadership.
  • Manage Change Order negotiations and valuation resolutions with clients through to agreement and recovery.
  • Support commercial evaluations of client instructions, revised drawings, and scope modifications to determine entitlement.
  • Prepare and submit time extension requests whenever project schedules are impacted by changes.
  • Serve as primary commercial liaison for Project Managers on Change Order and claims issues during project execution.
  • Guide project teams regarding contractual notifications, entitlements, and commercial risk exposure daily.
  • Help Project Managers understand relevant contractual obligations, deadlines, and variation claim procedures.
  • Collaborate with planning teams to link program delays and causes to support time-related claims.
  • Contribute to monthly valuation and payment applications by ensuring approved Change Orders are fully accounted for and valued.
  • Participate in commercial project reviews, providing transparent reporting on Change Order statuses, values, and recovery efficiency.
  • Handle customer disputes, back-charges, and contra-charges including technical and commercial analysis.
  • Prepare formal written responses to client claims that clearly state the company's contractual position.
  • Build comprehensive evidence packages defending against unjust client charges, utilizing contemporaneous records, correspondence, and scheduling data.
  • Engage directly with clients to professionally negotiate dispute resolutions.
  • Assist in preparing and advancing formal claims if amicable resolutions fail.
  • Maintain detailed records and audit trails to support the company's stance on disputed matters.

Candidate Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial, contract management, or quantity surveying roles within Construction or Engineering, preferably involving Mechanical or Electrical projects.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Law, Engineering, Commercial Management, or related fields.
  • Proven track record in preparing and recovering Change Orders and variations on engineering or construction projects.
  • Experience managing customer disputes, back-charges, or claims.
  • Strong knowledge of contractual notification obligations and practical application.
  • Self-driven, capable of independent work and skilled at forging strong relationships within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, analytical, and problem-solving skills with precise attention to detail.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, adept at composing clear contractual documents.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and document management software.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
