About the Role
Become a vital part of South East Water by taking on the role of Compliance Sampler, a position dedicated to safeguarding public health by ensuring the purity and safety of the water supply. This hands-on, field-based job involves independently covering assigned routes to collect water samples from key points such as treatment facilities, storage reservoirs, and customer locations. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining water quality standards as you perform on-site testing, quality assurance checks, and accurately record results using digital systems. Interaction with customers is a key aspect, requiring a professional and reassuring approach.
Key Duties
- Collect water samples from various designated sites and conduct thorough water quality investigations.
- Carry out on-location tests and strict quality control following regulatory guidelines.
- Efficiently plan and manage daily routes to meet deadlines without direct supervision.
- Maintain detailed and accurate paperwork alongside electronic records to meet compliance standards.
- Coordinate sampling times with water production teams to ensure accurate data collection during plant operation.
- Contribute to a weekend and bank holiday roster to support ongoing water quality monitoring and sample delivery to the laboratory in Farnborough.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a valid UK driving licence required to operate a company vehicle.
- Demonstrates strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Comfortable providing excellent customer service by clearly explaining sampling procedures and addressing participant queries.
- Confident using IT systems, computers, and handheld devices for data entry and navigation.
- Knowledge of water sampling processes is an advantage but not mandatory.
Work Conditions and Schedule
The role is based at the Pembury depot in Kent, with usual working hours starting between 6:30 and 7:00 AM and finishing around 3:00 PM. Participation in a weekend and bank holiday rota is required to ensure continuous compliance with water quality regulations.
