About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced full-time Commis Chef to join The Cumberland team based in Pascoe Vale, Victoria. This position suits individuals who thrive in a lively kitchen environment focused on quality food preparation and service alongside a supportive and dynamic team.

The Cumberland, formerly the Pascoe Vale RSL, has been transformed into a neighborhood pub designed to be a welcoming space for local patrons to enjoy food, drinks, and community. The venue is undergoing exciting changes with updated dining experiences and refreshed spaces to come.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items maintaining high standards of quality.
• Support senior chefs during busy service times with preparation, plating, and service tasks.
• Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
• Manage your kitchen section during service, ensuring the smooth flow of orders.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and ready workstation for ongoing service demands.

Candidate Profile

• Qualifications such as Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent practical experience.
• Possession of Food Allergens and Food Safety certificates.
• Experience working in high-volume kitchens like pubs or bistros.
• Strong understanding of fundamental cooking techniques and recipe execution.
• Availability to work a rotating schedule including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Working Environment

This role demands physical activity including standing for long periods, handling stock and equipment such as boxes or kegs, and moving through the venue’s various levels.
