Job description

Role Overview

The position is for a Cleaning Operative within the Estates & Facilities Management department located at Churchfield, Barnsley. The role involves planning and executing routine cleaning tasks under the guidance of the Cleaning Supervisor, ensuring allocated premises meet established cleanliness standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Carry out cleaning activities in various specified areas as directed by the Area Cleaning Supervisor, adhering to the Building Cleaning Services specifications and maintaining all safety and security protocols.
  • Perform cleaning duties such as dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, as well as deep and detailed cleaning according to scheduled or ad-hoc requirements.
  • Maintain high attention to detail and uphold rigorous hygiene and cleanliness levels.
  • Handle cleaning products safely, including those involving harsh chemicals, in compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Use cleaning equipment effectively, including steam cleaners and floor buffers as needed.
  • Ensure security measures are strictly followed at all times within each location.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changes, embracing new processes and ideas.
  • Undertake any other duties consistent with the job’s purpose as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in industrial or commercial cleaning or a comparable background.
  • History of working according to detailed cleaning specifications.
  • Willingness to work towards qualifications such as the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) certification and Chemical identification training (COSHH).
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours when required.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Compensation and Working Conditions

This permanent part-time role offers a pro-rated salary of £24,747 per annum based on 16 hours of work per week. The position is categorized as a fixed role, requiring work primarily at a single location (police premises).
