Class 1 Driver

Position Overview

Join Gregory Distribution Ltd as a Class 1 Out and Back Driver based in South Ockendon. This role involves efficiently and safely handling the collection and delivery of palletised goods using curtain-sided articulated vehicles. Drivers will operate within UK routes, returning to their depot daily and maintaining high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and deliver palletised freight using a curtain-sided trailer with professionalism and care.
• Secure cargo adequately with ratchet straps and assist with manual handling to uphold safety protocols.
• Use handheld PDAs for accurate and timely completion of delivery documentation.
• Maintain consistent communication with transport coordinators to meet and exceed customer expectations.
• Complete scheduled routes, ensuring on-time deliveries and collections, finishing shifts back at the home depot.
• Engage in regular training to keep skills current and aligned with industry best practices.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Possession of a valid UK Class 1 CE driving licence to operate articulated vehicles.
• Current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) and digital tachograph driver card to comply with safety and legal standards.
• Ability to deliver excellent customer service and maintain a professional image at all times.
• Capability to work within tight schedules, managing time effectively to ensure punctual and safe deliveries.
• Strong communication skills, ensuring clear and polite interaction with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with UK road networks, especially in Essex and nearby areas, for efficient route navigation.

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive hourly wage of £18.00, equating to £864 weekly for a 48-hour workweek.
• Additional pay of £2.75 per hour for weekend work and night shifts between 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM.

Work Schedule and Conditions
