Role Overview

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a full-time remote leadership role responsible for setting and executing the technological vision and strategy for Sendexa. This position involves overseeing the software development lifecycle to maintain secure, scalable, and dependable SMS and email delivery systems including APIs and dashboards. The CTO leads engineering teams, establishes coding and architectural standards, collaborates closely with product and business teams, and ensures alignment of technology initiatives with overall company goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the overall technology roadmap for Sendexa.
• Lead engineering teams to develop secure, scalable SMS and email platforms.
• Set coding standards and architectural guidelines.
• Drive product development in partnership with product management and business stakeholders.
• Manage technology projects from initiation to completion, prioritizing tasks effectively.
• Review system architectures and guide technical decisions.
• Optimize infrastructure and implement robust security measures.
• Mentor and develop technical staff to enhance team performance.
• Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience in software and product development, particularly with cloud-based communication or SaaS platforms.
• Strong expertise in IT strategy, system architecture, scalability, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven project management skills including leading diverse teams and managing project timelines and budgets.
• Familiarity with APIs, messaging protocols, and high-availability systems, preferably in SMS, email, or related communication domains.
• Capability to lead and collaborate within remote engineering teams fostering inclusive and high-performing cultures.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making aptitudes focused on performance and cost optimization.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills enabling effective cross-functional partnership.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience working in African or emerging markets is a plus, including knowledge of regional telecom regulations and infrastructure.
