An opening is available at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for experienced registered nurses eager to advance their management and clinical capabilities as a Charge Nurse. The role requires dedication to Acute Cardiology, General Medicine, patient-focused care, and fostering effective teamwork.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Charge Nurse will provide clinical leadership, collaborate with the Senior Charge Nurse and Charge Nurse team to implement changes within Ward 21 (Cardiac Care Unit) and Ward 23. Managing safe and effective patient care to enhance patient experience and support the organisation's goals is central. A prior background as a Charge Nurse is preferable but not mandatory.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

Applicants must have post-registration experience in an acute clinical environment and display leadership competencies and awareness. A good understanding of the complexities in treating patients with both acute and chronic cardiac and medical conditions is essential. Experience or interest in Service Improvement projects is desirable.

Ward Details and Shift Information

Ward 21 includes 8 monitored beds, and Ward 23 accommodates 26 inpatients; both are dynamic, acute-care units characterized by high patient turnover. The Charge Nurse needs to oversee the entire department, aid in managing capacity, patient flow, and ensure timely access to the Cardiology floor. This role involves full-time shifts of 12.5 hours including day, night, and weekend rotations.
