Role Overview
The Category Development Analyst will be a key contributor within Diageo's Key Accounts' Category Development team, focusing on analytics, category assessments, and consumer insights to ensure successful execution of customer category management strategies. This includes oversight of assortment optimization, planogram recommendations and performance evaluations utilizing data-driven methods.
Role Complexity and Responsibilities
- Develop in-depth expertise in business operations, product lines, market dynamics, and customer needs within the Spirits and Beer categories, recognized as a category management authority.
- Navigate the complexity of a SKU-intensive category with adaptability in a fast-changing work environment.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external retail partners.
- Collaborate closely with retailer merchant teams and cross-functional colleagues to meet business targets.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and identify growth opportunities through comprehensive data analysis.
- Leverage multiple data sources such as syndicated data, retailer point-of-sale information, and develop tools to facilitate insights and analytics.
- Implement shelf space recommendations using technologies like JDA and Shelf IQ to maximize efficiency, sales conversion, and shopper experience.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, processes, and analytic tools.
Experience and Skills Required
- At least 2 to 3 years of professional experience in category management, insights, or analytics, ideally within the consumer packaged goods or adult beverage industries.
- Proficiency in handling syndicated and proprietary data sources, including Nielsen, Numerator, panel statistics, shopper loyalty data, and sales tracking.
- Technical competence with space planning tools such as JDA or Shelf IQ and extensive experience with syndicated data.
- Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Ability to translate insights into actionable execution strategies at retail locations.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills.
- Capability to work autonomously within a hybrid working model.

The position has a minimum salary of $66,413 and a maximum of $110,688 annually.
