Overview
An Indian subsidiary of Amazon.com is looking for a motivated Associate Corporate Counsel with 3-5 years of post-qualification legal experience. This role supports various business units of Amazon in India, based in Bengaluru, for a fixed tenure of three years. The role reports to a senior corporate counsel in Bangalore.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver continuous legal guidance across multiple areas such as intellectual property, digital media, e-commerce marketplace, corporate secretarial duties, and regulatory compliance.
- Address and resolve legal challenges arising from commercial partnerships and manage pre-litigation disputes and inquiries effectively.
- Lead the drafting and negotiation processes for a variety of agreements including procurement contracts, master services agreements, sales contracts, advertising agreements, and NDAs, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal standards.
- Assess and refine legal terms and conditions in programs for new and existing business initiatives.
- Review and approve promotional materials across print and digital channels to ensure compliance with Amazon’s legal standards.
- Analyze business operations and contract scopes critically, functioning independently while maintaining smooth communication with stakeholders at all levels.
- Exercise strong legal and commercial judgment to inform decisions.
- Maintain excellent written and verbal communication in English for direct engagement with business leaders.
- Foster collaborative relationships across diverse management levels to handle complex legal and business matters.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years in a legal role.
- Associate Company Secretary membership (ACS) from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) with valid membership status.
- LL.B. degree from a recognized Indian university.
- Experience as a practicing lawyer or in-house counsel with a proven track record in providing legal advice and independently handling the review, drafting, and negotiation of commercial contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Legal experience spanning both corporate law firms and in-house departments.
