Position Overview
We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate or Assistant Project Manager to become part of an in-house team specializing in design and construction of prestigious, luxury developments. This role provides practical involvement alongside seasoned professionals on complex, design-driven projects.
Project Scope
The successful candidate will be involved in the restoration of a Grade II* listed country house in Wimbledon, including comprehensive refurbishment of the main house and coach house, addition of new forecourt extensions, basement work, and extensive landscaping. There may also be additional chances to engage in luxurious residential projects located in the South of France.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Technical Manager to engage in all stages of design and construction processes.
- Assist in reviewing architectural drawings and technical specifications.
- Coordinate technical details and resolve design issues.
- Oversee construction quality control and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including as-built records.
- Communicate and liaise effectively with architects, consultants, contractors, and specialized subcontractors.
- Monitor project progress and ensure site teams have up-to-date construction information.
Candidate Profile
Candidates should hold a degree in Civil Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a similar field. While prior industry or placement experience with a contractor or consultant is advantageous, it is not mandatory. The ideal applicant demonstrates strong technical proficiency, sound understanding of project planning, proficiency in Excel, along with excellent organizational and communicative skills. A proactive, enthusiastic approach with a strong desire to advance one's career in exceptional projects is essential.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Academic background in Civil Engineering, Building Services Engineering or similar disciplines.
- Experience from graduate roles or internships in construction or engineering domains.
- Familiarity with construction project coordination and technical drawing review.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations and building services.
- Competence in project planning and programming.
- Understanding of quality assurance and site inspections.
- Experience with construction documentation and maintaining as-built records.
- Ability to effectively manage stakeholders and coordinate with contractors and consultants.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office suite.
- Strong problem-solving ability, communication skills, and organizational aptitude.
- Attention to detail and eagerness to learn and grow professionally.
- Prior experience or interest in heritage building projects, refurbishment, and luxury residential developments is desirable.
