Role Overview
This position is for an Applied Scientist / Research Engineer Intern on the AI team based in either Paris or London. The role involves conducting impactful research and collaborating closely with clients on demanding technical challenges. The team works on advanced multimodal models that handle text, image, and speech, and cross-disciplinary cooperation is essential for delivering effective AI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-training, post-training, and deployment of sophisticated models using GPU clusters.
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems including out-of-memory (OOM) errors and issues related to NCCL communication.
- Create, curate, and manage datasets for the entire model development lifecycle, including evaluation phases.
- Develop tools and frameworks to facilitate data generation, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
- Work collaboratively with both internal teams and external clients to implement AI across various applications, such as agent systems and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines.
- Coordinate project workflows and communication with client teams to ensure alignment and progress.
- Maintain and improve model performance standards to consistently meet or surpass expected benchmarks.
Candidate Profile
- Proficient in English with strong communication skills suitable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experienced in frameworks like PyTorch or JAX.
- Comfortable working autonomously within extensive codebases.
- Skilled in writing clean, efficient, and dependable Python code.
- Self-driven with the initiative to manage tasks effectively with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative mindset with humility and a desire for continuous learning.
- Proven track record through academic work, professional experience, or personal projects.
- Interest or experience in areas such as agents, multi-modal AI, robotics, diffusion models, or time-series data analysis.
