Role Summary

We are seeking an exceptional AI Software Engineer to join our team on a freelance contract basis. In this role, you will co-own the engineering and AI strategy that transforms how development teams operate by embedding AI at the core of workflow innovations. You will maintain a high technical standard for an elite platform that supports millions of concurrent users, where performance, reliability, and security are critical.

Responsibilities

Set and execute technical strategy to support AI-driven development and engineering workflows.
Address complex challenges causing engineering bottlenecks or site instability, prioritizing their resolution.
Design architectures and guardrails to implement the vision amid uncertainty.
Balance strategic leadership with hands-on engineering contributions.
Collaborate closely with engineering teams and leadership to drive AI adoption and innovation.

Requirements

Over 10 years of professional experience with at least 6 years focused on scalable distributed systems in fast-paced environments.
Proven background in architecting and developing high-traffic distributed platforms, ideally in senior technical leadership roles.
Practical experience advancing AI fluency across organizations or teams via tools, workflows, or plugin creation.
Expertise in enhancing developer productivity and code quality by redesigning development processes.
Experience enabling autonomous AI agents within agentic systems or feedback loops.
Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and raise technical standards through coaching and mentorship.
Solid understanding of balancing engineering, product, security, and compliance considerations.
Familiarity with technologies such as Next.js, React.js, Node.js, and AWS.
Experience contributing to platform or developer experience teams, building internal tools that improve stability, AI adoption, and code quality.

Additional Information

This position is a full-time freelance contractor role. The selected candidate will be responsible for submitting monthly invoices and timesheets. Please note, this contract-based engagement does not include employee benefits.
