Role and Responsibilities

We seek candidates to join the extended Ruffena team as fractional Finance Directors (FDs) or Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) to support our portfolio clients across the UK and Europe. These clients are often founder-led businesses lacking dedicated, experienced strategic finance leadership to manage their growth phases.

Engagements vary in intensity and duration, from short-term intensive support to ongoing fractional roles involving several days per week or month. Our goal is to structure arrangements that satisfy both the clients’ and consultants’ needs.

• Lead financial and strategic planning development
• Perform financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting
• Conduct detailed financial analysis and reporting
• Manage cash flow and assess risk
• Ensure solid financial governance
• When suitable, introduce new transaction opportunities to the Ruffena team

Desired Qualifications and Skills

• Extensive experience in senior financial roles
• Strong knowledge of financial management and team leadership
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts
• Competence in working effectively within small teams and engaging with senior management
• Expertise in financial modelling and analysis
• Experience in either investing in companies or raising capital, particularly for early or growth-stage enterprises
• Proven ability to operate independently and collaboratively in dynamic environments
• High integrity and professionalism
• Strong commercial awareness
• Background working with startups or growth organizations
• Familiarity with mergers and acquisitions or business sales
• Knowledge of financial transformations involving people, processes, and systems
• Experience in business turnarounds
• Professional background in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, or senior management in investor-backed companies
