Overview

One Call Concepts Locating Services, Inc. is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Utility Locator based in Fairfax, VA. This full-time position requires no prior experience as paid training will be provided. Candidates should exhibit a strong work ethic, the ability to follow instructions, and commitment to daily attendance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Respond independently to utility marking requests (tickets) received via the Virginia State One Call System (VA811) to serve utility customers.
  • Use an internet-enabled laptop to access tickets and utility facility records/plans, interpreting these records for accurate underground utility marking.
  • Employ utility locating equipment to mark underground utilities precisely.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of marking activities within the online ticket management system.
  • Interact daily with homeowners, excavators, and utility personnel maintaining professional communication.
  • Adhere to company policies and customer regulations consistently.

Candidate Requirements

  • No previous experience necessary; paid training provided.
  • Valid and acceptable driving record.
  • Successful background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Basic computer skills including navigation of file systems and reading comprehension.
  • Good verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Availability to participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet daily deadlines.
  • Physical ability to walk on diverse terrains including roadside and construction sites.
  • Capability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to access manholes and valve pits.

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Typical working hours are 7 AM to approximately 4 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Weekend and after-hours work may be required as necessary.
  • Position involves independent work throughout the day.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly wages range from $18 to $28 depending on individual experience.
  • Company vehicle provided for daily use and can be taken home.
  • Bonus programs offering potential additional earnings of up to $2,000 annually.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance options available after 90 days.
  • Eligibility to participate in 401(k) and 401(k) matching plans after 90 days of continuous employment.
