Utility Locator I

About the role

Star Construction, LLC is hiring a Utility Locator to identify underground utilities and clearly mark them with paint and flags so excavation and construction work can proceed safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Use locating equipment to find underground utilities and mark them accurately, with support from more experienced locators when needed.
• Review utility maps to determine where buried lines are likely to be.
• Keep complete records of all locate activities.
• Handle excavation notices quickly and professionally.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, utility contacts, and internal team members.
• Perform light digging with a shovel when required.
• Be available for overtime, travel, and on-call or after-hours work when needed.
• Carry out duties in a variety of weather conditions.

Requirements

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You need authorization to work in the United States for this employer.
• A high school diploma, GED, or comparable work experience is required.
• A valid state driver’s license is required; provisional licenses are not acceptable.
• You should have an acceptable driving record.

Physical requirements

• Frequent tasks include working alone in remote areas, keeping arms above shoulder level, operating a vehicle, using fine hand movements, squeezing, bending, stooping, standing, walking, lifting up to 55 pounds, and using a keyboard and mouse.
• Occasional tasks include using a portable ladder, working in confined spaces, and climbing stairs.
