The India Schools Team
We collaborate with government schools to boost student outcomes by assisting teachers and students in effectively using the Khan Academy platform. Reaching over 2.1 million learners last year via 70,000+ schools, we aim to expand our reach to over 5 million learners in three years. Working in a lean, collaborative manner, we support, gather feedback, utilize data insights, and conduct efficacy studies to improve outcomes.
Role Overview
The Training Lead - Physics will focus on enhancing teacher capabilities for the Khan Academy program in Andhra Pradesh. This unique role supports a tripartite project with UNICEF, the Andhra Pradesh education department, and Khan Academy India. Responsibilities span training mentor teachers, empowering Grade 11 and 12 physics teachers with content mastery and teaching skills using Khan Academy and Khanmigo, and improving physics learning outcomes particularly for female students.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a layered professional development plan targeting teachers, mentors, and principals.
- Enhance classroom instruction and conceptual understanding through tools including Khanmigo’s AI functionalities like "make it relevant" and "real world context generator".
- Guide teachers to utilize Khanmigo and digital tools for diverse pedagogical strategies and to identify student misconceptions.
- Analyze student practice and assessment data to measure progress, highlight gaps, and support targeted teaching interventions.
- Conduct 4-6 monthly field visits to observe mentor teachers, provide feedback, and resolve challenges to promote Khan Academy adoption.
- Promote a feedback culture among mentors reviewing teacher materials such as lesson plans and quizzes to ensure quality.
- Serve as a subject expert collaborating closely with mentors, integrating AI in teaching and learning.
- Monitor teacher engagement through platform dashboards to identify those needing extra help.
- Document training activities and observations for reporting purposes.
- Participate in program review meetings contributing subject-specific insights.
- Offer additional support to advance program goals as required.
Candidate Profile
- At least 5 years professional experience with a minimum of 3 years teaching Physics for grades 11 and 12.
- Strong proficiency in Grade 11 and 12 Physics concepts and ability to translate knowledge into effective teaching methods.
- Fluency in Telugu is mandatory.
- Experience designing and delivering teacher training is preferred, though not required.
- Interest or experience in educational technology and AI tools, preferably with digital teaching platforms.
- Willingness to travel across the state up to 50% monthly for training and school visits.
- Genuine passion for education and desire to make impactful contributions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset comfortable with ambiguity, experimenting, and proactive action.
