Role Overview
The Tendering Manager oversees all commercial, contractual, and financial aspects of construction tenders. This role ensures submissions are rigorous, compliant, and support the organization's business and risk management priorities.
Main Duties
- Lead the complete tender process, managing all aspects from strategy formulation to pricing evaluation and internal approvals
- Scrutinize Bills of Quantities, costings, and pricing schedules to ensure quality and competitive positioning
- Assess subcontractor and supplier quotes for technical accuracy and commercial consistency
- Identify and evaluate key contract risks—such as liquidated damages, payment terms, variation clauses, and design liability—in PSSCOC, SIA, and REDAS contract formats
- Champion value engineering and development of alternative proposals where appropriate
- Coordinate with internal departments, including Quantity Surveying, Design, Planning, Procurement, and M&E
- Supervise the preparation of full tender submissions, construction plans, and supporting documentation
- Guide post-award reviews, confirming all Letters of Award, contractual documents, and schedules reflect the company’s submitted tender
- Organize win/loss analyses and oversee thorough handover to project and contracts teams
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building, Law, or a relevant discipline
- At least 8 years of main contractor tendering and contract management experience in building construction
- Demonstrated expertise in contract assessment and risk management for major construction projects
