Structural Steel Detailer

Overview

This position requires expertise in structural steel detailing with responsibilities including creating engineering designs, reading blueprints, supervising draft personnel, and preparing detailed construction documentation. The role demands hands-on work at our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia facility, with no remote work option.

Languages and Education

Proficiency in English is essential. Candidates should have completed college, CEGEP, or an equivalent non-university program lasting one to two years.

Experience Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of five years' experience in detailing drafting roles.

Work Setting

The role requires working on site in an interior work environment. Candidates should be willing to relocate if necessary. Public transportation is accessible for commuting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop engineering designs and sketches aligned with project specifications.
• Interpret blueprints to identify work scope and requirements.
• Lead and supervise drafting teams, including training new personnel.
• Prepare construction specifications, material and cost estimates.
• Compile comprehensive documentation packages and drawing sets.
• Review drawings thoroughly to ensure conformity and accuracy.
• Engage with clients, engineers, and production specialists to define product requirements.
• Author technical reports and detailed specifications.
• Provide leadership and instruction to groups as required.

Technical Skills

• Experience with Detailing drafting.
• Proficient in Mastercam CAD/CAM software.
• Skilled in using Tekla.
