Job description

Role Overview

You will be tasked with leading and overseeing multifaceted, high-impact strategic programmes that advance the organisation's long-term goals and fulfill statutory obligations. Your role involves translating strategic priorities into actionable, structured programmes, delivering expert programme management, maintaining governance, risk management, assurance, and engaging stakeholders across the organisation and its wider system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specific elements of the organisation's Five Year Strategy.
  • Convert strategic priorities into coherent and executable programmes adhering to NHS England's operating framework, planning directives, and statutory mandates.
  • Coordinate the formulation of commissioning intentions.
  • Provide advanced programme management encompassing governance, risk mitigation, benefits realization, financial supervision, and comprehensive reporting.
  • Collaborate across teams and broader organisation sectors to accomplish strategic objectives.
  • Engage stakeholders inside the organisation and the wider system to foster alignment and progress.

Working Culture and Environment

The organisation fosters a culture encouraging all staff to excel professionally and personally. To enhance outcomes for the population served, clinical, operational, financial, and strategic professionals must collaborate closely to make informed commissioning choices.

Staff are expected to work onsite at least two days per week, with one-on-one meetings held face-to-face and regular visits to commissioned services to deepen understanding.

This onsite presence promotes improved teamwork, quicker resolution of issues, peer learning opportunities, visible leadership, and stronger integration into organisational culture. Flexibility in work arrangements is supported to accommodate the needs of both employees and the organisation.

Objectives are set collaboratively through regular supervision, annual appraisals, and accessible training opportunities.

Equal Opportunities

The organisation is committed to diversity and equal opportunity, encouraging applications from all community sectors, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability status, age, or sexual orientation.
