Role overview
This is a permanent, on-site Stores Operative position based in Haverhill, Suffolk. The role offers a salary in the region of £27,000 to £28,000 per year, depending on experience, and an immediate start for the right candidate. It is suited to someone who has previously worked in stores, goods-in, warehouse, or despatch functions and is seeking a stable, long-term opportunity within a busy manufacturing environment.
The position calls for a practical, well-organised person who can manage stock accurately, support production needs, and help keep the stores area running efficiently.
Pay and working pattern
- Annual pay is approximately £27,000 to £28,000, depending on experience.
- Working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00.
- This is a full-time permanent appointment.
- Start date is immediate.
Key duties
- Take in incoming deliveries and process goods received.
- Store and arrange materials according to company processes.
- Pick and issue materials, consumables, and job kits for production use.
- Assist manufacturing teams with kitting and production preparation.
- Perform stock checks and cycle counts, then flag any differences.
- Maintain system entries for stock movements and scrap adjustments.
- Track stock availability and expiry dates.
- Prepare, pack, and send outbound orders safely and accurately.
- Complete shipping paperwork when needed.
- Keep the stores area clean, orderly, and well maintained.
Candidate profile
- Prior experience in stores, goods-in, warehouse, or despatch work.
- Solid understanding of stock control and inventory handling.
- Comfortable using IT systems, including Excel and Word.
- Careful, detail-focused, and accurate in day-to-day work.
- Able to stay methodical and effective under pressure.
- Works well as part of a team and independently.
- Experience with stock takes and standard warehouse practices.
- Physically capable of lifting and moving materials when required.
