About the Role

Join Traffic Safe NZ Ltd as an STMS in Rotorua, where you will play a critical role in ensuring smooth and safe traffic management on site. You will be responsible for setting up and supervising traffic management zones, making quick decisions to maintain traffic flow, and advocating for safety through effective management practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and sustain compliant Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) sites as per authorized plans.
  • Direct live traffic flow operations, including use of stop/go signaling and layout modifications.
  • Lead onsite teams by providing daily task allocation, safety briefings, and conducting toolbox talks.
  • Perform site inductions, carry out safety inspections, and keep precise records.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure all site activities conform to safety standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Hold a current practicing TMO or STMS A/B qualification; if not certified, training and certification will be provided by our internal team.
  • Possess a valid New Zealand Class 1 driver’s license, with comfort driving manual vehicles; Class 2 license is advantageous.
  • Demonstrate leadership confidence with the capability to make informed risk-based decisions.
  • Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Be physically capable and prepared to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
  • Bring relevant previous experience managing traffic across various worksite environments.
  • Show a deep commitment to health and safety principles.
