Overview

Become part of the Digital Te Au Reka team at the Ministry of Justice in New Zealand and contribute to reshaping how justice services are delivered nationwide. This role demands strategic involvement in one of the Ministry's largest digital transformation projects—Te Au Reka. As a Solution Architect within the Application Support and Continuous Improvement team, your responsibility will be to maintain the stability, security, and future readiness of the live digital service as new capabilities roll out.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and advance solution architectures that underpin the ongoing operations of Te Au Reka.
  • Collaborate with programme-level architects and delivery teams to ensure smooth deployment of new functionalities into production environments.
  • Lead architectural guidance across application support, operational enhancement, coexistence strategy, and future release planning.
  • Coordinate alignment between Te Au Reka and existing case management systems during their coexistence phase.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to achieve sustainable outcomes.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Exceptional ability to foster trusted connections with both technical teams and business stakeholders at all organizational levels, facilitating appropriate solution development.
  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to navigate and resolve complex challenges involving business needs and technical requirements.
  • Clear, articulate communication skills, both written and verbal, for explaining architecture-related decisions.
  • Capability to manage a balance between ensuring operational stability and driving continuous improvement alongside delivery of new features.
  • Experience partnering with users to comprehend business objectives and translating these into technological solutions.
  • Proven expertise in Solution Architecture or senior technical leadership, especially within large and complex organizational environments.
  • Designing enterprise solutions that involve hybrid cloud services and SaaS platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Dynamics 365.
  • Competence in working with legacy systems and planning their migration to modern technological environments.
  • Familiarity with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications within the Ministry of Justice.
  • Experience within the New Zealand public sector, understanding governmental processes, or knowledge of the Māori language is considered beneficial.

Compensation

The salary for this position ranges from NZD 118,904 to NZD 163,344 annually, with appointments expected between NZD 118,904 and NZD 153,402.
