Software Engineer - Jira Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer with specialized expertise in Jira software to manage and enhance our Jira Cloud environment. The primary focus of this position involves refining workflows, creating automation, and optimizing Jira configurations to facilitate efficient project tracking and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and administer Jira Cloud environment including user administration, permissions, and project settings.
• Design, implement, and fine-tune Jira workflows, custom fields, screens, and schemes to reflect organizational processes.
• Create and maintain automation using Jira Automation tools, scripting, and REST APIs to streamline tasks and decrease manual operations.
• Develop and oversee integrations of Jira with other enterprise platforms such as Confluence, GitHub, and ServiceNow.
• Engage with stakeholders to ascertain requirements and translate these into scalable Jira solutions.
• Monitor Jira system performance, troubleshoot issues promptly, and uphold data integrity within projects.
• Document configurations, automation scripts, and guidelines to ensure sustainability of enhancements.
• Deliver user training and support for effective use of Jira functionalities and workflows.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of three years of practical experience managing Jira Cloud in a live production setting.
• Advanced scripting skills in languages like Python and JavaScript for automation and system integrations.
• Demonstrated expertise in creating Jira automation rules and utilizing REST APIs and webhooks for tailored integrations.
• Deep understanding of Jira workflow architecture, permission frameworks, issue types, and project templates.
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) methodologies and version control tools such as Git.
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle processes.
• Experience or awareness of cloud platforms including AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is highly preferred.
• Exposure to enterprise IT settings with an understanding of security and compliance requirements.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills.
