About the Role
We invite applications for a Band 6 Registered Nurse position within the Surgical Ambulatory Care Receiving Unit (SACRU) at Wythenshawe Hospital, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). SACRU is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner-led same-day emergency care assessment unit designed to enhance patient-centered services by reducing GP referrals to Emergency Departments, facilitating faster ward discharges, and limiting unnecessary surgical admissions.
This permanent full-time role includes weekend shifts and demands a proactive nurse who thrives in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will work closely with ACPs to maintain clinical efficiency, ensure patient safety, and foster a supportive setting for both patients and staff. Strong communication skills and prior clinical experience at Band 5 or 6 are essential for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, evaluate, and deliver comprehensive patient care with compassion and sensitivity.
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to clinical governance processes.
- Mentor and precept junior nursing staff and take specific responsibility for pre-registration students.
- Manage clinical team operations and uphold high-quality standards within the unit.
- Coordinate patient flow and unit activities effectively.
- Support Band 7 nursing management by assisting in nursing staff oversight within SACRU.
- Facilitate communication across various departments, including ACPs and bed management teams.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous clinical experience as a Band 5 or Band 6 Registered Nurse with solid clinical knowledge.
- Excellent communication abilities to liaise with multidisciplinary teams and departments.
- A motivated approach and enthusiasm for varied, fast-paced clinical settings.
- Capability to take delegated management responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to clinical governance.
