Role Overview

The Shift Supervisor position is a part-time, on-site role at the Chicking outlet in Colombo Street, Christchurch. This role involves managing daily operations during shifts, overseeing front-of-house and kitchen teams, ensuring exceptional service quality, and upholding strict food safety and hygiene standards. Responsibilities also cover staff scheduling at shift level, managing opening and closing routines, performing cash and point-of-sale reconciliations, and enforcing company policies along with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise restaurant operations during assigned shifts, including team oversight and service monitoring.
• Coordinate staff scheduling and manage shift workflows efficiently.
• Handle opening and closing procedures accurately and securely.
• Manage cash transactions and reconcile point-of-sale takings daily.
• Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards.
• Support the training and development of team members.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve escalations promptly.
• Collaborate with management to achieve sales, service, and productivity goals.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in hospitality, retail, or fast food settings with supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities to guide and motivate staff effectively.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills capable of managing multiple priorities.
• Basic numeracy skills and experience with cash handling and point-of-sale systems.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety practices; formal certification is advantageous.
• Effective problem-solving skills with ability to manage customer service issues and operational challenges.
• Availability to work part-time on a roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Prior supervisory experience in quick-service restaurants is preferred but not essential.
• Must be eligible to legally work in New Zealand and reliably attend the Christchurch location.
