About the Role
This position involves providing workshop services and planning maintenance activities related to electrical equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations in accordance with regulatory and company policies. The role focuses on handling LT and HT motor overhauls, rewinding, repairs during routine, shutdown, or emergency situations and testing both new and existing motors as part of project, capital expenditure, and plant demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily tasks adhering strictly to organizational policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines to ensure consistent and controlled work outcomes.
- Stay updated with industry best practices to help identify and implement improvements in systems and processes.
- Develop standardized testing procedures and formats for electrical equipment, ensuring alignment with group-wide electrical enhancement guidelines.
- Contribute to preparation of workshop maintenance budgets and cost management, optimizing resource use and planning.
- Formulate daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules coordinating with planning and plant maintenance teams to meet workshop KPIs.
- Perform critical electrical maintenance with high-quality standards, including managing external repair coordination and upkeep of equipment in common site areas.
- Conduct planned shutdown and turnaround maintenance ensuring timely testing and calibration of electrical systems.
- Assist in managing spare parts inventory for electrical equipment including evaluation and availability of key components.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and components; oversee preservation plans and execution for complex LT motor spares.
- Manage planned and reactive maintenance of non-plant CES workshop associated areas.
- Ensure compliance documentation is maintained for audits and support adherence to statutory, safety, and environmental standards including mandatory trainings.
- Maintain records of repairs, tests, and generate MIS reports on electrical maintenance activities updating internal management systems promptly.
- Oversee maintenance practices for Extra High Voltage systems (220kV and above) and ensure safe reliable operation of 400kV and 220kV GIS, including monitoring EHV cable connections.
- Coordinate with power generation plants and grid authorities for smooth operation of 400/220/33kV power distribution systems within operational norms.
Success Indicators
- Reduction in response and resolution timelines for maintenance issues.
- Improvement in overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Decrease in occurrence of unplanned shutdowns.
- Efficiency in shutdown turnaround and mean time between failures.
- Lower incidence of safety-related events.
Working Relationships
- Collaborate internally with HR, administration, workshop teams, planning, and security departments.
- Liaise externally with vendors, equipment manufacturers, and relevant authorities.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology is essential; a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred. Candidates should have up to 3 years of experience in industrial electrical workshop maintenance, preferably with at least two years of hands-on practice in the field.
