Shift Electrical Technician

Job Overview

The role entails performing technical electrical duties to guarantee the safe and efficient functioning of plant operations in Abu Dhabi. Candidates should have relevant prior experience and qualifications.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and machinery to maintain reliability and safety standards.
• Install, examine, test, and troubleshoot low and medium voltage electrical devices such as switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, power control centers, distribution boards, and motor controls.
• Support the upkeep, troubleshooting, and commissioning of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), soft starters, motor starters, alongside corresponding control mechanisms.
• Perform maintenance, diagnostic testing, and fault resolution for AC/DC motors and related equipment including various pump types and auxiliary machinery.
• Utilize testing instruments to perform insulation resistance, continuity, phase sequence, earth continuity, and cable diagnostics.
• Inspect and service electrical conductors, cable trays, terminations, glands, and junction boxes as necessary.
• Maintain and test protective relays, circuit breakers, contactors, overload relays, and other protective electrical devices.
• Provide support for operation and maintenance of emergency and standby power components such as generators, UPS, chargers, batteries, and their control systems.
• Carry out electrical switching, isolation procedures, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) measures following prescribed safety practices.
• Interpret technical electrical documentation including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring plans, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and manufacturer manuals.
• Identify electrical issues, determine root causes, and propose effective corrective solutions to enhance equipment dependability.
• Adhere strictly to electrical safety codes, company protocols, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas, ensure proper handling of electrical testing devices and tools, and comply fully with quality, health, safety, environmental, and asset management policies.
