About the Role

The Dumont Technical Institute, part of the Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research, invites applications for a sessional instructor position in communications, focusing on the Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) program located in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The instructor will be responsible for teaching two communication courses: Helping Skills (15 hours) and Interpersonal Communications (30 hours).

Responsibilities

  • Develop lesson plans, provide classroom instruction, evaluate student assignments, and deliver academic support for adult learners in the specified communications courses.
  • Collaborate effectively with the lead instructor on class scheduling, monitoring student progress, and grading.
  • Foster a supportive learning environment tailored to adult education.

Course Details

  • Helping Skills: Emphasizes developing communication techniques for fostering helpful interactions with clients, families, healthcare professionals, and others.
  • Interpersonal Communications: Focuses on building employability skills through understanding interpersonal communication theories and applications, including self-awareness, perception challenges, verbal and nonverbal communication, listening, and conflict resolution.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Master's degree in Communication or Master of Arts with a major in English or Communication.
  • Alternatively acceptable: four-year Bachelor's degree in Communications, or a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Education with majors in English or Communications.

Terms & Conditions

  • Position Type: Contract from September 2026 to January 2027.
  • Location: Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
  • Remuneration: $65 per hour.
  • In-person teaching is preferred.
