Senior Project Engineer (Offshore)

Job Overview

Wood is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Offshore) to join its Qatar office for a long-term engagement. The role is critical in delivering project execution across study, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC), and Project Management Consultancy (PMC) stages, ensuring alignment with project plans, Wood and client procedures, and maintaining safety and quality standards within budget and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and exemplify health, safety, environmental and quality practices, proactively intervening to maintain high standards.
• Support project and engineering management in delivering excellence for assigned scopes.
• Take personal ownership of assigned tasks ensuring timely and compliant delivery with procedures and standards.
• Possibly lead small to medium proposals, studies or projects with guidance from senior management.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary engineering activities across locations, ensuring correct scope interpretation and deadlines are met.
• Manage adherence to contracts and scope of work, ensuring compliance by engineering disciplines.
• Review and approve key project deliverables, maintaining quality before submission to clients.
• Oversee the preparation of critical project documentation including execution plans, basis of design, subcontract scopes, design reviews, reports, and trackers.
• Manage development of method statements, resource estimates, and risk assessments for tenders and projects.
• Maintain control over schedules, manpower, milestones, highlighting and managing project risks especially for sequencing.
• Chair technical and project review meetings with stakeholders, managing issues to resolution.
• Drive progress meetings with discipline engineers, ensuring accountability and timely closure of actions.
• Maintain effective client communication as delegated, ensuring satisfaction.
• Coordinate interfaces with third parties to secure inputs for deliverables.
• Lead site surveys and data collection for brownfield projects, including reporting.
• Support identification and management of project and technical risks.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
• Registration as a Grade A or B Engineer in Qatar preferred.
• Project management qualifications such as PMP or APM are advantageous.
• Competency with Microsoft Office for documentation, presentations, scheduling and tracking.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, with strong initiative and high professional standards.
• Commercially astute with ability to understand contracts and raise timely issues regarding changes or delays.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to motivate and lead multidisciplinary teams effectively.
• Experienced in risk and change management across project lifecycles with exposure to design and site phases.
• Proficient in multidiscipline coordination, conflict resolution, prioritization and logical planning.
• Versatile exposure to a broad range of projects including greenfield and brownfield developments, onshore and offshore sectors, covering stages from Concept to Warranty.
• Experience with technical reviews and audits such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, 3D model reviews.
• Familiarity with preparing and managing equipment lists and weight control is beneficial.
• Knowledge of interpreting complex scopes, contracts, and engineering drawings like P&IDs and Plot Plans.
• Demonstrated customer focus and responsiveness aligning with organizational goals.
• Experience with Qatar Oil & Gas standards and regulatory requirements is ideal.
