Role Overview
The Senior Financial Analyst - Manufacturing will serve as a financial partner to plant operations and cross-functional teams by delivering detailed financial insights that enhance performance and promote continuous improvement. Responsibilities include directing monthly production variance reporting, performing product cost analysis, supporting forecast processes, and managing plant-specific year-end audit activities. This role demands a proactive and collaborative professional focused on operational excellence through data-driven decision-making and cost management.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with plant managers and production teams to ensure efficient manufacturing operations and resolve daily issues.
- Lead monthly manufacturing scorecard preparation featuring operational and financial KPIs, providing comprehensive visibility into plant performance and variance drivers.
- Manage innovation and site-level product costing, validating costs for innovations or formula changes alongside brand, supply chain, and R&D teams; conduct specialized costing analyses as needed.
- Identify and recommend productivity improvements and optimization opportunities across manufacturing operations, including capital expenditures, inventory control, quality, and safety.
- Ensure compliance with costing policies and procedures, suggesting improvements, maintaining documentation on costing methodologies.
- Generate ad-hoc reports delivering variance explanations and actionable recommendations for plant managers, finance teams, and senior leadership.
- Support year-end audit processes by providing working papers, costing analytics, and timely responses to auditor queries.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related fields preferred.
- Accounting certification (CPA or equivalent) achieved or in progress.
- 3 to 5 years progressive financial or accounting experience within a manufacturing environment; experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of costing methodologies, with experience using SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Demonstrated strength in performance management, financial analysis, and forecast accountability.
- Advanced analytical, financial modeling, and Excel capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to derive key insights for fact-based decision making.
- Effective collaboration and influence skills with cross-functional partners, adopting a solution-oriented approach.
- Ambitious and proactive mindset with readiness to challenge norms and drive business improvements.
- Strong communication skills, comfortable engaging with senior leadership.
Compensation
Salary range for this role is from 95,000 to 105,000 Canadian dollars annually. Exact compensation depends on experience, skills, education, training, and organizational needs while aligning with internal equity standards.
