Role Overview
We are seeking a commercially focused Senior Contracts Administrator based in Darwin to oversee contract administration, procurement, and cost control functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, exercises sound judgement, and manages multiple priorities effectively to drive commercial success on complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate contract success by administering contracts, procurement, and cost management activities.
- Manage the entire contract lifecycle: tendering, awarding, administration, and closure of main contracts and subcontracts.
- Oversee subcontract packages from preparation and issuance to ongoing compliance management.
- Evaluate and administer subcontract claims including progress payments, variations, and final accounts.
- Assist in preparing and submitting main contract claims ensuring contractual compliance and accuracy.
- Coordinate procurement tasks such as tender documentation, subcontractor engagement, evaluation, and recommendation.
- Track and report on project costs, budgets, forecasts, facilitating cost control and financial insight.
- Identify contractual and commercial risks, escalate issues, and support mitigation efforts.
- Maintain thorough contract records, registers, and supporting documentation.
- Produce commercial reports covering cost tracking, procurement status, and contract performance metrics.
- Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to align project delivery and resolve contractual issues.
- Contribute to a high-performing team, complying with company standards and processes.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, or a related area.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in contracts administration or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of contract administration, subcontractor management, and procurement workflows.
- Experience managing variations, progress claims, and subcontract packages.
- Strong commercial insight, capable of monitoring costs and financial forecasting.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Effective communicator with the ability to liaise across teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Proficient in JobPac, Microsoft Office suite, and project management software.
- Ability to assess risk, apply judgement, and seek clarity when necessary.
- Comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced conditions while maintaining accuracy and responsibility.
