Job description

Position Overview

The Senior Applications Programmer role involves designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining essential web applications used by manufacturing facilities to manage production processes. This position also entails creating and managing database designs and objects critical to the company's operations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, document, and implement requirements sourced from change request systems oriented towards supply chain and manufacturing solutions.
  • Create unit and integration test suites for developed applications and services.
  • Develop robust, highly available, and maintainable applications for manufacturing plants.
  • Manage system integrations across various organizational platforms.
  • Utilize build tools such as Ant or similar for software deployment processes.
  • Preferably leverage continuous integration tools like Jenkins.
  • Apply Unix scripting skills where applicable.
  • Collaborate effectively within teams through knowledge sharing, cross-training, and providing necessary support.
  • Engage with business users to translate needs into functional software components including forms.
  • Prepare technical documentation to support analysis, design, implementation, and ongoing support.
  • Participate actively in daily stand-up meetings, communicating project status to colleagues and leadership.
  • Provide accurate estimates of work and update on progress regularly.
  • Take part in 24/7 on-call support rotations to maintain operational continuity.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep expertise in Oracle Database and Oracle EBS.
  • Experience working within Agile development frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, and AngularJS technologies.
  • Thorough understanding of Model-View-Controller (MVC) software architecture.
  • Strong skills in designing and developing Oracle Database objects including tables, views, queries, and stored procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Stored Procedures, SQL, and PL/SQL.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Adaptable to team environments and capable of quick, effective work under pressure while managing multiple tasks.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related IT discipline from an accredited institution.
  • At least 10 years of software development experience using Java/J2EE or related technologies.
  • Minimum 5 years of expertise in Oracle PL/SQL programming.
  • Basic knowledge of information security principles and enterprise user roles/responsibilities.
  • Capable of supporting User Access Review processes.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple organizational divisions to support testing and integration activities.
  • Previous work experience in mid to large-sized organizations; manufacturing domain knowledge preferred.

Work Environment

  • The role is predominantly office-based and sedentary.
  • Requires use of standard office equipment in professional settings.
  • Travel demands are minimal, generally less than 5% of work time.
