Self Checkout Attendant

Position Overview

Joining Walmart Canada as a Self Checkout Attendant provides a valuable opportunity to enhance your skills in customer service and retail operations. This role focuses on supporting a positive and efficient shopping experience by assisting customers with the self-checkout process.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of the self-checkout areas, ensuring these remain free from clutter, foreign objects, and spills.
• Promote Walmart's company programs and initiatives such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable campaigns when relevant.
• Provide helpful assistance to customers using the self-checkout, monitoring activity, guiding them through the process, and escalating cash or technical issues to management.
• React appropriately to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms and keep accurate records by completing the "Failure to Deactivate" log.
• Ensure that Scan & Go scanners are returned to their designated storage spots after use.
• Display flexibility in availability by working varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, adapting to business needs to maintain smooth store operations.

Role Challenges

• Managing high volumes of tasks in a fast-moving environment, especially overnight shifts requiring energy and focus.
• Carrying out physical duties such as standing for extended periods, bending, lifting supplies weighing up to 20 pounds regularly and sometimes up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive stocking and organizing activities with precision.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this position is $15.50.
