JBS Food Canada ULC is among the country's top beef processors, employing around 3,300 people across multiple locations including Brooks and Calgary in Alberta, as well as a case-ready plant in Belleville, Ontario. The Brooks facility processes approximately 4,200 cattle daily, producing a diverse range of beef products shipped nationally and internationally. The Calgary plant produces value-added protein products such as marinated and portion-sized items, while the Belleville location focuses on fresh meat and seafood products for Canada's leading retailers.

Role Overview

The Sanitor position is a full-time, permanent role based at the JBS Ontario plant in Belleville. The Sanitor is an integral team member involved in preparing retail-ready fresh meat items like beef, pork, veal, ground beef, and sausages.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhering to safety protocols by wearing provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
• Operating in various environmental conditions such as wet, humid, cold, hot, indoor and outdoor settings, handling slippery floors and loud noise levels.
• Using chemicals, machinery, and production tools responsibly and safely.
• Performing physically demanding cleaning tasks including hand scrubbing surfaces like walls, floors, tables, and hallways as well as managing hose operations in a fast-paced setting.
• Handling sanitation equipment weighing over 50 pounds by pulling, pushing, and lifting.
• Completing all mandatory safety and food safety/GMP training related to the role.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum education: High School Diploma.
• Between one month and less than seven months of full-time work experience in physically challenging roles, preferably in food processing or a similar industry.
• Familiarity with production equipment operation.
• Commitment to learning safe and correct work methods.
• Strong understanding and application of safety practices.
• A proactive and safety-focused attitude with values including ownership, accountability, and determination.
• Basic proficiency in English.
• Physical capability to lift up to 23 kilograms.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Repetitive movements and manual dexterity required.
• Handling heavy loads and enduring physical labor such as bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for long periods.
• Performing tasks in cold, refrigerated environments.
• Attentiveness and hand-eye coordination essential for safety and quality.
