Overview
The Sanitation Technician position is based in Sandston, Virginia, United States, and involves the cleaning and sanitization of production facilities including machinery, floors, pipes, and tanks. This role operates primarily during early morning hours and requires weekend shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive hands-on training for operating necessary machinery to clean assigned equipment safely, focusing on operational controls, pinch points, and guards.
- Perform thorough cleaning following the Master Sanitation Schedule, covering all areas top-down including walls, pipes, tanks, floors, machinery, and dismantling machinery as needed.
- Accurately prepare and test chemical formulations for cleaning purposes.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, quality standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices during all operations.
- Report any machinery malfunctions observed during cleaning promptly.
- Coordinate closely with Production and Maintenance teams regarding line statuses.
- Maintain sanitation tools and chemical inventory, communicating replenishment needs to the Sanitation Supervisor or Quality Assurance Manager.
- Ensure all sanitation equipment and tools are properly accounted for and stored.
- Keep the Sanitation Cage organized and clean.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by supervisors or quality assurance management.
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED, or relevant work experience.
- Availability to work Friday through Sunday shifts is mandatory.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing equipment such as pumps, motors, conveyors, air valves, and power sources.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform light mechanical disassembly.
- Competent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to equipment failures.
Work Schedule and Compensation
This full-time role requires working hours from 2:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., including weekends. Compensation starts at $17 per hour, with eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.
