Job Overview
The Sales Engineer will partner closely with the Sales team to develop technical, architectural, and engineering documents that support profitable sales growth. This role focuses on understanding customer needs and customizing products, equipment, and services to ensure customer satisfaction. Success metrics include acquiring new clients, customer renewals, up-selling, cross-selling, and overall contribution to sales targets.
Policies & Procedures
- Recommend improvements to departmental policies and assist in implementing controls and procedures.
- Ensure adherence and proper enforcement of group policies and procedures.
Sales Operations
- Engage throughout the full sales cycle — from initial discovery, project reviews, design submissions, to component installation.
- Work alongside Local Operations Teams to obtain contractor quotations for sales opportunities.
- Provide alternative technical solutions to address unique customer installation needs.
- Formulate sales and marketing approaches tailored to key industry verticals.
- Coordinate with internal departments to guarantee accurate and timely delivery of solutions to clients.
- Design and roll out training programs for the Sales team on product applications.
- Support Sales Executives with consultative solution selling to potential customers.
- Collaborate with Sales Executives in planning and executing strategic contracts within complex sales cycles.
- Develop financial business models associated with sales proposals.
- Create compelling presentations and demonstrations highlighting the unique value propositions.
- Manage technical aspects of Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Information (RFI) responses.
- Gather and document competitive market intelligence.
Quotation to Order & Collection Management
- Maintain and update supplier contacts for quick quotation retrieval and map products to suppliers for rapid RFQ evaluation.
- Analyze customer requirements from bid packages or RFQs in coordination with Key Account Managers.
- Identify necessary commercial documents and hidden cost factors within RFQs or projects for stakeholder discussion.
- Prepare bid packages and communicate with customers and vendors to resolve technical questions during bidding.
- Draft Letters of Authorization, technical and commercial quotations, and provide supporting documents for client evaluation.
- Lead responses to buyer and user technical queries throughout bid evaluation unless queries are pre-accepted.
- Select most appropriate products from company inventory and participate in pricing using vendor resources.
- Collaborate across teams (Commercial, Sales, Finance) to obtain inputs and necessary documentation before bid closing dates.
- Review customer orders carefully to verify bill of materials, part numbers, supply scope, payment terms and other conditions.
- Assist in preparing and submitting final technical dossiers including user manuals, drawings, and test certificates to secure customer acceptance and facilitate payment processing.
Procure to Pay
- Issue RFQs and liaise with suppliers for technical clarifications and commercial terms.
- Procure required materials and services, oversee execution of customer orders, and monitor purchase order progress.
- Finalize purchase orders and ensure timely acknowledgments from vendors.
- Enter item codes, delivery terms, and submit purchase orders for full approval workflows.
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure deliveries comply with agreed terms and timelines.
- Communicate with finance to process advance payments and arrange bank guarantees or letters of credit as needed.
- Liaise with logistics to track shipping status for all purchase orders.
Delivery Management
- Lead coordination of manufacturing/fabrication, transportation, customs clearance (for imports), receiving inventory at warehouse, and preparation of delivery documentation.
- Organize deliveries to customers, secure receipt confirmations, and collaborate with logistics, accounts, and warehouse teams for smooth material shipment and invoicing.
Technical and Commercial Expertise
- Provide comprehensive technical consultation for power system retrofits, protective system engineering, and modernization of switchgear.
- Oversee design and implementation of complex projects involving power distribution panels, motor control centers, and testing of low/medium voltage equipment.
- Perform site evaluations including transformer diagnostics such as Turns Ratio Test, winding resistance, and oil analysis.
- Promote sales by demonstrating knowledge of advanced testing services like secondary current injection, high potential (HiPot) testing, and relay parameter configuration.
- Collaborate with technology partners to introduce cutting-edge solutions such as LED lighting surveys and replacement of obsolete equipment for clients.
Master Data Management
Ensure accuracy and consistency of product codes, pricing information, and delivery schedules sourced from both customers and suppliers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Management discipline.
- Sales certifications from manufacturers representing Evostel’s product portfolio.
- 6 to 8 years of relevant engineering experience with strong knowledge of the Saudi Arabian market, including sales, marketing, and business development.
