About the Role
This full-time permanent position involves working a 9-day fortnight schedule. The Road Maintenance Worker role focuses on carrying out maintenance tasks on the City's road and footpath infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on drainage systems and footpath repairs.
Key Duties
- Perform concreting and asphalt footpath repairs.
- Install Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliant infrastructure.
- Maintain drainage systems effectively.
- Set up and monitor traffic management, ensuring accurate daily records are kept.
- Ensure all worksites are left clean, safe, and present City infrastructure to high standards.
- Maintain positive public relations with residents, contractors, suppliers, and various stakeholders.
- Conduct regular equipment checks, perform minor maintenance, and ensure plant and machinery are safe and operational.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a dependable team player committed to safety and high-quality workmanship. Experience in road maintenance, construction, or civil works is preferred. Strong workplace safety awareness and excellent communication skills are essential.
Desired Experience and Qualifications
- Background in road maintenance, asphalt work, concreting, spray sealing, or general civil construction.
- Capability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety practices.
- Ability to operate relevant plant and equipment for road maintenance tasks.
- Possession of a current Victorian Driver Licence; MR or HR licence is advantageous.
- Traffic Management accreditation is desirable.
- Basic computer literacy and skill in mobile device applications for work orders, inspections, and communication.
- Physical ability to perform labor-intensive outdoor work under various weather conditions.

Salary and Benefits
This position is band 3, with a pay rate ranging from AUD 35.19 to 37.28 per hour plus superannuation.
