Research Assistant - Language, Mind and Brain Lab

About the Role

The Language, Mind and Brain Lab invites applications for a proactive Research Assistant to engage in psycholinguistic and neurolinguistic research projects. This opportunity offers hands-on experience with advanced research techniques such as magneto-/electroencephalography (M/EEG), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and behavioral experiments, all while working under expert faculty supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in designing experiments related to language processing and carry out data gathering and statistical analysis.
• Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and assist in writing academic publications.
• Engage actively in lab meetings, research seminars, and training workshops.
• Support administrative functions associated with ongoing research projects.

Eligibility and Requirements

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Psychology, Linguistics, or a related discipline.
• Preferred coursework includes linguistic theory areas such as syntax, semantics, or phonology.
• Prior involvement in research projects, including undergraduate thesis or research assistant roles in psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, or related fields is advantageous.
• Exceptional organizational capabilities.
• Commitment to pursuing graduate education (MA/PhD) in psychology, linguistics, cognitive science, or neuroscience.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.
• Submission materials required: statement of interest, academic transcripts, curriculum vitae, and two letters of recommendation.

Additional Program Information

This position operates under the NYU Abu Dhabi Kawader program, a three-year national fellowship designed to cultivate outstanding Emirati graduates through a tailored, intensive research experience. UAE nationals are especially encouraged to apply. The program is designed to support graduates contemplating graduate studies or research careers.
