Role overview
An established manufacturing company in Pontypool is looking to add a Quality Inspector to its production team. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys a fast-moving manufacturing setting and takes satisfaction in making sure products are released only when they meet strict quality expectations.
The successful candidate will examine materials, components and finished goods at different stages of the production cycle, working alongside Production and the Quality team to spot issues, record findings accurately and support ongoing improvement efforts.
Key responsibilities
- Check incoming raw materials, items in process and completed products to confirm they match internal standards and customer requirements.
- Use suitable gauges, instruments and inspection tools to complete visual, mechanical and functional checks.
- Carry out measurements and tests in accordance with the documented procedures and specifications.
- Spot defects, variations and non-conforming items, and escalate results to Production and Quality leadership.
- Record inspection outcomes carefully and keep quality logs, reports and documentation up to date.
- Help investigate the root cause of quality issues and support corrective actions where needed.
- Follow company quality systems, health and safety rules, and applicable industry standards.
- Work with production colleagues to raise product quality and cut down on defects.
- Look after inspection tools and equipment, including checking that calibration requirements are satisfied.
- Support internal audits and contribute to continuous improvement activity.
Candidate profile
You should bring prior experience in a Quality Inspector, Quality Technician, QC Inspector or Quality Control position. Hands-on familiarity with measuring instruments and inspection equipment is expected, and the ability to read engineering drawings is essential.
