Quality Control Inspector

Role Overview

The Quality Control Inspector plays a vital role within the Quality Assurance framework by carrying out independent inspections, spot checks, and administrative quality control duties across all operational departments. This position complements the efforts of Quality Control Auditors by continuously observing and validating performance to ensure compliance with contract terms specified in the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Performance Requirements Summary (PRS). Acting as an unbiased evaluator, the QC Inspector fosters accountability, supports ongoing improvements, and provides immediate coaching as necessary.

Inspection & Compliance Duties

• Perform both planned and impromptu spot inspections across various functions including Maintenance, Supply, and Transportation.
• Conduct quality control checks in line with PRS criteria, confirming adherence to performance standards and Acceptable Quality Levels (AQL).
• Ensure operations comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, and legal requirements.
• Verify the presence and relevance of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) during inspections.

Supporting QC Auditors

• Help with inspections preparation, data gathering, and sampling tasks for QC Auditors.
• Carry out follow-up audits to verify resolution of previously noted nonconformities (CAPA validation).
• Offer real-time findings from the field to enhance the thoroughness and quality of audits.
• Support in delivering immediate coaching during "teachable moments" coordinated with supervisors.

Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities

• Record inspection outcomes precisely in quality control tools, checklists, and monitoring systems.
• Document key data such as sample sizes, defect counts, compliance status, and all objective evidence.
• Assist in managing quality documentation in compliance with ARIMS (AR 25-400-2) and ISO 9001 standards for record retention.
• Participate in generating quality reports, visual dashboards, and summaries of performance.
• Serve as the Primary Publications Coordinator as assigned.

Performance and Safety Monitoring

• Help track and report metrics like PRS compliance, AQL trends, CAP status, and ICE feedback response times.
• Highlight and document positive achievements for recognition and trend studies.
• Identify and note government-caused delays impacting performance data.
• Adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety procedures during all inspections.
• Confirm compliance with safety standards and identify potential hazards or violations.

Continuous Improvement Contribution

• Detect recurring issues and assist in root cause analyses.
• Provide constructive feedback to supervisors and Quality Assurance leaders.
• Support the development and follow-up of Corrective Action Plans.

Qualifications & Skills

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Logistics, Business, or related field is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience of 1 to 3 years in quality control, quality assurance, logistics, maintenance, or operational settings.
• Government contracting experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with PWS/PRS environments and inspection methods including AQL sampling concepts (ISO 2859-1 preferred).
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems principles is desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and preferred familiarity with data tracking platforms such as SharePoint and Power BI.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and effective communication abilities.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to walk extensively through operational areas and lift up to 20 pounds.
• Capable of working in both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to variable weather and operational risks.
• Work settings include motor pools, warehouses, transportation yards, and offices.
