Role Overview
As a Quality Control Inspector specializing in Mechanical and Piping, you will carry out independent quality verifications to ensure all mechanical and piping installations meet the approved designs, specifications, codes, and procedures for the project.
Key Duties
- Conduct both in-process and final inspections of mechanical and piping operations according to approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), drawings, and technical specifications.
- Examine fabrication, fit-up, and erection of piping including checking alignments, supports, and proper flange handling.
- Inspect the installation of mechanical equipment such as static and rotating machinery plus related piping connections.
- Observe hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing as well as flushing procedures.
- Review and validate QC documentation from contractors and subcontractors including material certifications and inspection reports.
- Identify and report any deviations through Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and track corrective measures until resolved.
- Document hold points, witness points, and inspection releases per the ITP requirements.
- Prepare daily inspection summaries and maintain thorough records of inspections performed.
- Collaborate with clients, EPC contractors, and site QC teams to address and resolve technical and quality-related concerns.
- Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations strictly while on site.
Qualification and Certification
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related engineering field, or equivalent trade qualifications.
- Valid and current CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification is mandatory.
- Familiarity with ASME codes including B31.3 and B16.5, as well as other relevant mechanical and piping standards.
- Basic understanding of Non-Destructive Testing methods such as Radiographic (RT), Ultrasonic (UT), Magnetic Particle (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT) is advantageous.
Experience Requirements
- At least five years’ practical experience as a QC Inspector in the Mechanical and Piping discipline within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Demonstrated experience on EPC or brownfield projects in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or LNG sectors.
- Proficient knowledge of international standards and codes applicable to mechanical and piping inspections.
