About the Role
JPS Tech Solutions is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Automated Tester to join our team onsite in Greater Hartford, Connecticut. The role focuses on supporting the Department of Children and Families' core application CT-KIND, a federally reimbursed comprehensive child welfare information system used by over 2,000 social workers. This position requires hands-on work with both automated and manual testing to ensure functional requirements and service quality standards such as performance, scalability, security, and maintainability are met.
Responsibilities
- Implement automated testing strategies for complex distributed systems and multi-tier e-commerce applications in line with core technology and architectural standards.
- Create, maintain, and execute automated test scripts and technical documentation following project specifications.
- Develop end-to-end system testing approaches and assist in migration and integration testing of legacy and new technologies.
- Collaborate effectively across teams communicating clearly with stakeholders to deliver business and technical value.
- Be self-directed and highly organized, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Ensure adherence to testing standards and policies; regularly review requirements, test cases, and scenarios to ensure completeness and correctness.
- Work closely with design and development teams to resolve QA issues aligned with user needs and design principles.
- Generate diverse testing deliverables including unit tests, functional, regression, load tests, compliance reports, and cross-platform compatibility validation.
- Maintain testing libraries and artifacts to keep them up to date and relevant.
- Create automated test cases to meet acceptance criteria within an Agile environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Azure DevOps suite components including Boards, Repos, Pipelines, Test Plans, and Artifacts.
- At least 5 years of expertise in automated testing using UFT and VBScript or another programming language.
- Strong background in automated testing frameworks, manual testing methodologies, strategies, and test environments.
- Experience working in Agile project teams on large-scale software development initiatives.
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining UI, backend, API, and hardware test automation.
- Knowledge of web and distributed systems testing including performance, regression, security, and mobile testing.
- Familiarity with .Net, SharePoint, Salesforce platforms and related technologies.
- Understanding of database design, data modeling, application modeling, and service-oriented architectures.
- Experience integrating automated tests in enterprise system integration and continuous integration environments using DevOps practices.
- Strong grasp of QA best practices including test plan creation, test execution, and issue tracking within Agile workflows.
- Understanding of test-driven development principles and object-oriented design patterns.
Additional Preferred Experience
- Functional test experience with tools like Unified Functional Testing (UFT).
- Automated testing expertise with C#, WCF, jQuery, XML, JSON, Web API, SOAP, and .NET technologies.
- Experience testing web services using REST, SOAP, and tools such as SOAPUI.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce, Microsoft SharePoint, .Net Framework, and virtualized hosting environments.
- Proficiency in SQL and knowledge of integration platforms such as Mulesoft.
Additional Information
The position is W2-Contract only; applications proposing C2C arrangements will not be considered. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Applicants must possess valid work authorization and U.S. visa status will be reviewed for immigration planning purposes. The role is onsite in Hartford, Connecticut, working closely with multiple stakeholders and development teams to ensure system reliability and compliance.
