Production Engineer - Biodiesel

About the Role

The Production Engineer will be responsible for managing the entire biodiesel manufacturing operations at the plant in Gandhidham, Gujarat. This position falls under the Manufacturing/Operations department and reports directly to the Plant Head. The candidate will oversee safe, efficient, and cost-effective production, applying expertise in biodiesel processes including transesterification, esterification, distillation, utility management, quality assurance, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily biodiesel plant operations ensuring targets are met efficiently.
• Oversee critical processes such as transesterification, esterification, purification, and distillation.
• Optimize resource utilization including manpower, machinery, utilities, and raw materials.
• Promote continuous improvements in process efficiency and productivity.
• Monitor process parameters to ensure strict compliance with standard operating procedures.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective measures to enhance output.
• Optimize production yields, recovery rates, and energy consumption.
• Support scaling up and commissioning of new production units.
• Maintain quality compliance through coordination with QA/QC teams and ensure process validation.
• Ensure adherence to environmental, health, safety, statutory, and pollution control standards.
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to maximize equipment availability through preventive maintenance.
• Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and uphold process safety and operational excellence.
• Lead and mentor production engineers, shift supervisors, and operators to foster a safety-conscious and accountable team culture.
• Compile and present daily, weekly, and monthly production and performance reports to management.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, or a related field is required. Candidates with a Diploma in Chemical Engineering with substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
• 8 to 15 years of experience in continuous process manufacturing is essential.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in Biodiesel, Biofuel, Oleochemical, Fatty Acid, Edible Oil, Chemical, or Refinery production environments is necessary.
• Experience with large-scale production facilities is highly desirable.

Compensation

Monthly salary ranges between INR 50,000 and INR 100,000.
