Role Overview
The Materials Product Manager within USP's Programs, Regions, Operations, and Strategy (PROpS) Division is responsible for managing a portfolio of Pharmaceutical Analytical Impurities, Analytical Reference Materials, and Certified Reference Materials. This individual contributor role focuses on executing USP’s objectives to deliver top-quality products throughout their lifecycle. The manager will apply analytics and data-driven decision making to develop product strategies and recommendations, collaborating globally with Science, Operations, Sales, Regions, Pricing, Trade Compliance, and Marketing teams to drive portfolio growth and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform item forecasting, pricing strategies, and margin assessments.
- Develop and present comprehensive business cases to justify new and existing product decisions.
- Monitor industry trends and competitive intelligence to shape product strategies.
- Lead prioritization of product pipelines aligning with organizational strategy and segment value.
- Collaborate with Industry Programs, Science, and Operations for new product launches.
- Provide training and support for Industry Programs, Regional, and Sales teams concerning new products and customer solutions.
- Drive continuous improvements to forecasting accuracy and product performance evaluation.
- Manage product mix and optimize portfolio by selecting or discontinuing items to maximize profitability.
- Identify and recommend new product opportunities based on customer feedback and strategic insights.
- Work alongside Marketing, Sales, and Regional teams to launch new products and track customer feedback and uptake.
- Maintain detailed product roadmaps to achieve pipeline targets and growth objectives.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, marketing, or scientific fields, preferably with an MBA.
- At least 5 to 7 years of relevant professional experience in the pharmaceutical or related industries.
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing extensive product portfolios across B2B and/or B2C sectors and leading high-performing cross-functional teams.
- Strong skills in financial analysis, forecasting, and use of data analytic tools.
- Excellent quantitative and critical thinking abilities capable of handling complex data for decision-making.
- Proficiency in creating dashboards, templates, and business cases grounded in customer insights and growth objectives.
- Highly motivated self-starter with strong personal accountability for results.
- Familiarity with syndicated data and industry analyses, including platforms such as IQVIA, Cortellis, and Dailymed.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication abilities and a proven track record of effective cross-functional collaboration.
Supervisory Details
This position is an individual contributor role with no direct supervisory responsibilities.
