Job description

About Moniepoint Inc.

Moniepoint Inc. stands as Africa's comprehensive financial platform, serving 20 million businesses and consumers with seamless payment, banking, credit, cross-border services, and business management tools every month. As Nigeria’s premier merchant acquirer, Moniepoint facilitates the majority of the country's POS transactions, processing over $250 billion in digital transactions annually through its subsidiaries.

Role Overview

This role delivers impartial assurance on the design, deployment, and operational efficiency of control mechanisms across the organization’s products such as payment systems, wallets, settlements, and switches. The Product Auditor safeguards the company against risks including revenue loss, settlement errors, regulatory non-compliance, and technological vulnerabilities by verifying that new and existing product offerings incorporate robust financial, operational, security, and compliance controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continually update a comprehensive Product Audit Universe cataloging all payment products and features ranked by risk.
  • Develop and execute the annual Product Audit Plan dynamically aligned with risk assessment, product complexity, regulatory relevance, and pace of change.
  • Review product requirement documents and transaction workflows to detect gaps in logic or risk management before product launch, providing control design approvals.
  • Periodically audit live products to ensure adherence to approved designs, detect configuration deviations, and analyze data for emerging risks.
  • Conduct pre-release audit assessments as an independent control check, verifying key control functionalities and escalating critical issues to prevent unsafe deployments.
  • Use SQL queries to verify the mathematical accuracy of fee calculations, VAT, discounts, commissions, transaction integrity, and reversal logic across payment sequences.
  • Trace and validate fund flows between wallets and general ledgers, evaluate reconciliation efficiency and control over manual settlements.
  • Ensure all product changes are authorized through formal change management, audit master data integrity for access control and version consistency.
  • Evaluate third-party and vendor-controlled product components, monitor SLA compliance, and identify dependency risks and unapproved API or fee logic changes.
  • Engage with product and engineering teams early to advise on controls, promote a control-by-design culture, and minimize audit findings.
  • Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analyses focusing on underlying failures, oversee corrective action assessment, and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks including CBN guidelines and PCI DSS.
  • Prepare detailed, risk-based audit reports for executive leadership and audit committees, maintain product risk registers, and deliver updates on control maturity.

Required Skills and Expertise

  • Expertise in advanced SQL for detailed data extraction and transaction reviewing.
  • In-depth understanding of payment system architectures including wallets, card processing, and settlement reconciliation.
  • Basic proficiency with APIs and product integration points.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end payment transaction lifecycle including authorization and exception handling.
  • Ability to interpret product requirement documents and convert workflows into control flow diagrams.
  • Strong numeracy for precise fee, interest, and payment split calculations.
  • An analytical eye for identifying anomalies and irregularities within large transaction datasets.
  • Experience in risk-based audit methodologies aligned with IIA and COSO frameworks.
  • Skilled in control design evaluation, root cause investigation, and regulatory compliance aligned with Nigerian financial regulations.
  • Effective stakeholder communication, professional skepticism, and ability to deliver risk-rated audit reports.
  • Familiarity with SQL platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL), advanced spreadsheet tools, and AI-driven analysis tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in product audit, systems audit, financial data analytics, or payment operations within fintech or financial services.
  • Certifications such as CISA, CIA, CFE are preferred; ACA or ACCA accepted with strong product and data analytics background.
  • Practical exposure to payment product architecture and regulated payment processes in Nigeria or similar markets.

What We Offer

  • A people-centered culture prioritizing well-being and mutual support.
  • An environment committed to continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
  • Competitive salary package including pension, health insurance, annual bonuses, and other benefits.

Recruitment Process

  • Interview sessions with the hiring panel.
  • Final discussion with an executive team member.
