Role Overview

Airspan Networks is hiring an experienced Systems Engineer and Architect for its 4G/5G wireless technology team. The role is based in Bangalore or Gurugram and is intended for a full-time professional who can drive system-level design and architecture across LTE and NR RAN platforms.

What the Role Focuses On

This position calls for strong expertise in wireless and RF systems, DAS, and the broader RAN ecosystem. The person should be comfortable working on LTE and NR systems such as eNodeB and gNodeB, with a solid grasp of scheduling, air-interface channel algorithms, radio resource management, and related Layer 1 concepts. A practical understanding of fast path/datapath technologies, management plane behavior, and platform software is also important.

Hands-on familiarity with 3GPP and O-RAN standards is essential, including the ability to interpret and apply specifications for both TDD and FDD deployments. Knowledge of different DAS implementations, RF-routed versus O-RAN architectures, and uplink channel optimizations is highly relevant. Exposure to M-Plane concepts, especially those tied to wireless requirements, is an added advantage.

The job also requires scripting and simulation experience for log analysis, algorithm verification, stubs, and validators. Tools and environments such as Shell scripting, Python, and Matlab/Simulink are expected for modelling, RF/L1 simulation, performance validation, and evaluation across multiple deployment scenarios including small cell, micro cell, indoor, outdoor, operator networks, and private networks.

In addition, the role benefits from awareness of Layer 1 software, radio systems, and channel-aware algorithm design. Experience with log and trace tools such as QXDM, Wireshark, Temps, Amarisoft, Viavi TM500, Keysight, and signal analysers is also useful.

Key Responsibilities

• Design architecture and technical solutions, and prepare specifications for the development and improvement of LTE and NR RAN platforms, including eNodeB and gNodeB.
• Apply strong wireless/RF and DAS knowledge, along with experience in wireless Layer 1, simulation, and algorithm work.
• Investigate, isolate, and resolve complex technical and system-level issues.
• Guide integration and rollout activities for RAN solutions across operator and private network environments.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver stable implementation and smooth system operation for Node and DAS solutions.
• Operate independently in a fast-moving, collaborative, and cross-functional setting.
• Lead, support, and mentor engineering team members through technical direction.
• Communicate technical details, architecture decisions, and project progress clearly to stakeholders.
• Maintain adherence to industry standards, engineering best practices, and product quality expectations.
• Stay informed about advances in 4G, 5G, and O-RAN technologies.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, or a related discipline. The role requires 12 to 15 years of industry experience in 4G and 5G RAN systems, along with exposure to deploying RAN solutions in both operator and private network environments.
